Welcome to Year 6!
It has been so wonderful to welcome all of our Year 6 pupils back to school and learn together again. Summer is here and I am very excited about the fun-filled term ahead; Year 6's final term of primary school!
What are we learning this term?
Our focus in English this half term will be around fiction writing and we will be writing a narrative and a character description. We will be exploring some fantastic texts to inspire these pieces: Alfred Noyes' classic poem - 'The Highwayman' and the wonderful 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' by J.K Rowling.
In mathematics, we will be revisiting and revising our learning of fractions, decimals and percentages in addition to exploring algebra.
For the next stage of our learning journey, we are going to be historians. Our big question for our history topic is: What was the greatest achievement of the Mayan civilisation? Following this, we will continue our learning journey as artists exploring the question: Can you create a composition inspired by a Mexican festival?
In RE this term, we will build on our prior learning from lockdown, studying the Jewish faith through the question: What does it mean to live as a Jew?
Please ensure your child is accessing Times Table Rockstars (4 x 10 minutes), Spelling Shed (4 x 10 minutes) and reading their reading book (4 x 10 minutes) each week.
These sessions should be recorded on the Year 6 WEDUC form.
PE will take place on Thursday afternoons - please remember to send your child to school in their kit.
