Learning for life with Jesus

Foundation Stage 2 Class

Mrs. Swift

Hi everyone,

I can't believe that we've completed one whole term already! And what a fantastic term it has been!

We are really looking forward to learning about how people help us and what it's like in the big city, this Spring term. We are also taking part in the RSPB's Big school Birdwatch.

I'm know we are going to have another brilliant term in Foundation Stage 2. I look forward to having lots of fun learning together as one big family!

Thank you for all of your support so far. If you have any additional questions, please catch me at the end of the day or arrange an appointment through the office.

You can also contact me through the class email: :

Weekly timetable

FS2 Spring Planning

What are we learning this term?

This term, we will be enjoying a wide range of fiction and non- fiction texts linked to our own experiences and to our Spring term topics - Who helps us in our community? and What's it like in the big city?  We will enjoy listening to and discussing stories together; exploring pattern and rhyme within texts and then using these patterns in our own story retelling.

In the Spring term we will be continuing to focus on phase 3 phonics, learning the associated sounds and tricky words. We will blend sounds into words, so that we can read short words made up of known letter– sound correspondences. We will also read some letter groups that each represent one sound and say sounds for them. We will read a few common exception words matched to our phonic programme. This term we will read simple phrases and sentences made up of words with known letter-sound correspondences and where necessary, a few exception words.

In writing, we will write short sentences with words with known sound-letter correspondence using a capital letter and full stop. When we write, we will re-read what we have written to check that it makes sense.

Our writing focusses this term are to write simple sentences about jobs, telling stories and story sequencing.

Our maths units this term are; Alive n 5, Growing 6,7,8 and Building 9 and 10.

The learning questions for our spring term are Who helps us in the community/ and What's it like in the big city?

For our RE we will be exploring the learning questions:

Why are some stories special?

Why do Christians put a cross in the Easter garden?
