Foundation Stage 2 Class
Half a year done already? Where has the time gone?
I know that we are really looking forward to learning about what it's like in the big city of London, this half term, as we count down to Easter.
Hopefully, the weather will start to get warmer and then we will be able to spend more time up the secret bank, exploring the amazing signs of spring as they begin to appear.
As always, thank you for all of your support so far. If you have any additional questions, please catch me at the end of the day or arrange an appointment through the office.

What are we learning this term?
This term, we will be enjoying a wide range of fiction and non- fiction texts linked to our own experiences and to our Spring term topics - What's it like in Africa? and What's beyond the big wide world? We will enjoy listening to and discussing stories together; exploring pattern and rhyme within texts and then using these patterns in our own story retelling.
In the Summer term we will be continuing to recap on phase 3 phonics then begin Phase 4 phonics, learning the associated sounds and tricky words. We will blend sounds into words, so that we can read short words made up of known letter– sound correspondences. We will also read some letter groups that each represent one sound and say sounds for them. We will read a few common exception words matched to our phonic programme. This term we will read simple phrases and sentences made up of words with known letter-sound correspondences and where necessary, a few exception words.
In fiction and non-fiction writing, we will write short sentences with words with known sound-letter correspondence using a capital letter and full stop. When we write, we will re-read what we have written to check that it makes sense. We will begin to add extra detail to our writing.
Our maths units this term are; To 20 and beyond, First-Then-Now, Find my pattern and On the Move.
The learning questions for our spring term are What's it like in Africa? and What is beyond the big wide world?
For our RE we will be exploring the learning questions:
What happens in a church?
