Year 6 2017-2018
SPRING TERM 2018
What a busy and exciting term it's been in Year 6! We have immersed ourselves into our class text 'Rooftoppers' by Katherine Rundell, a story of a girl who goes searching for her long lost mother in Paris, where she makes the acquaintance of an unlikely group of children who live on the rooftops overlooking the city. We have made holiday brochures of Paris, dioramas with scenes taken from the book and have written beginners guides about Parkour, an extreme french sport. And of course, who could forget our French Day?!
In topic, we have learned about natural disasters and their impact on communities around the world. We created some beautiful artwork and even had a giant sized tornado suspended from the ceiling!
There is so much more we could tell you about from science, to art, to music to World Book Day- we've had such fun!
SUMMER TERM 2018
Next term we will be learning about the ancient Mayan civilisation- an absolutely fascinating topic! The children will be asked to find out some facts about this over the holidays and produce a piece of work of their choice to bring into school; this could be a factfile, poster, piece of art or whatever their imagination allows!
Of course, SATs is a big focus for Year 6 so the children need to get plenty of rest around their learning. They have been working so hard towards these tests and Mrs Farnworth and I are so proud of them!
